The email that reshaped our business—and how we’re adapting to serve you better.
Recently, a council in South East Queensland announced that, starting September 1, the department will only accept permit applications from traffic management companies that hold Full TMR Registration. This includes traffic control implementation. This unexpected change has had a significant impact on our business model and the way we’ve operated since our founding in 2016.
At first, the news felt like a major blow to our traffic planning company. As a company built solely around planning and design—not labour—we were faced with a difficult decision: evolve or risk becoming obsolete.
To continue supporting our clients and remain relevant in the industry, we’ve made the tough but necessary choice to launch our own traffic control division in Queensland, effective immediately.
This pivot doesn’t change who we are at our core. Crompton Concepts was founded on the principle of providing clients only what they truly need—never more. That ethos remains unchanged. We are, and always will be, a traffic planning and design company first. Our values of honesty, integrity, and transparency continue to guide everything we do, including our new traffic control services.
The truth is, we never set out to provide labour. While this shift was unexpected, it opens new doors for us to serve our clients more comprehensively and continue growing as a trusted partner in traffic management.
What sets our approach apart is that our traffic controllers will arrive on-site knowing they’re genuinely needed. They’re not just filling a roster—they’re part of a purpose-driven team, and part of the Crompton family. This ensures better morale, better service, and better outcomes for your projects.
Fortunately, we had already secured our full TMR traffic management registration, having heard early whispers of this council change. Our signage installation division was already approved under TMR, and this foresight has proven invaluable. While we’re not perfect and have faced our share of challenges, this time our proactive thinking has helped safeguard our family business.
The past few weeks—and those ahead—have been a whirlwind of activity as we work tirelessly to get our traffic control division up and running. Our phones have been ringing nonstop with calls from concerned clients, and we’re here to reassure you: we’ve got your back.
This is a sink-or-swim moment, and we’re choosing to swim—with purpose, resilience, and dedication. We remain committed to supporting your business as if it were our own. No upselling, no hidden agendas—just honest, tailored service that meets your actual needs.
That’s been our promise since day one. Deliberately Different in everything we do.
We’re here to support you through this transition and beyond. If you have questions or need guidance on how this change affects your projects, please reach out.
